Top 100 Global Semiconductor Technology Invention Patents Ranking in 2018

With the rapid development of the semiconductor industry, application scenarios are constantly expanding and embedded in various products such as automobiles. At the same time, with the emergence of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and the Internet of Things, the market demand for semiconductors is constantly expanding. Data shows that the size of China's semiconductor market in 2017 was 1686 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 11.4%. With the continuous growth of China's integrated circuit design, manufacturing, packaging and other industries supported by national policies, it is expected that the size of China's semiconductor market will reach 2122.5 billion yuan in 2019, breaking the two trillion mark, with a growth rate of 12.1%.

The IPRdaily and IncoPat Innovation Index Research Center released the "2018 Global Semiconductor Technology Invention Patent Ranking (Top 100)" to statistically rank the number of global semiconductor technology invention patent applications disclosed in 2018. The top 100 companies in the list mainly come from 8 countries and regions: 41 in Japan, 22 in China, 18 in the United States, 9 in South Korea, and 4, 3, 2, and 1 in Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and France, respectively. The patent layout of the top three companies in this field mainly revolves around semiconductor chips, semiconductor packaging, substrates, light-emitting components, transistors, display devices, organic materials and other technologies. Among them, Samsung ranks first with 5803 patents, LG ranks second with 4057 patents, and BOE ranks third with 2792 patents, respectively.
